What is therapy like?

Therapy offers a confidential, supportive space where individuals collaboratively explore challenges and goals with a trained therapist. It fosters open communication, goal-oriented discussions, and skill-building. Sessions are tailored to individual needs, promoting self-discovery, empowerment, and the development of practical coping strategies. Confidentiality is paramount, and the duration and frequency of sessions vary based on personal preferences and goals. Ultimately, therapy is a unique and empowering journey toward improved well-being.

Is therapy right for me?

Therapy is beneficial for anyone seeking support, self-discovery, or coping skills. Whether facing specific challenges or aiming for personal growth, therapy offers a confidential and tailored space. It's a positive step for individuals ready to invest in their well-being and work collaboratively toward positive change.

What if my therapist isn't the right fit?

Finding the right fit matters, and it's okay if your first match isn't quite right. If you feel another clinician on our team may be a better fit, let us know. We're happy to help you transition to a different provider within the practice or an external referral whenever possible.

What if I need a higher level of care than outpatient therapy?

Caidence provides outpatient individual therapy. If at any point we determine that a higher level of care — such as intensive outpatient, inpatient, or crisis-level support — would better serve your needs, we'll work with you to identify appropriate resources and provide referrals to ensure you get the right level of support.

How does insurance work?

To ascertain your mental health coverage, start by consulting your insurance provider. Scrutinize your coverage for the following details:

  • Mental Health Benefits: Understand the extent of your mental health coverage.

  • Coverage per Session: Determine the amount covered for each therapy session.

  • Session Limit: Find out how many therapy sessions your plan accommodates.

  • Out-of-Network Provider: Inquire about coverage for out-of-network providers.

  • Primary Care Approval: Check if approval from your primary care physician is necessary.

Do you prescribe medication?

Our clinicians do not prescribe medication. If medication may be a helpful part of your care, we can provide a referral to a psychiatrist or prescribing provider and are glad to coordinate care with them as needed.

What is your cancellation policy?

We require at least [24/48] hours' notice to cancel or reschedule a session. Missed appointments or cancellations made with less notice may be subject to a cancellation fee. We understand emergencies happen and will always work with you when they do.

What is virtual therapy or Telehealth?

Caidence offers therapy exclusively through secure, HIPAA-compliant virtual sessions. Using a secure telehealth platform, you can attend your sessions from the comfort of your own space using a smartphone, tablet, or computer, wherever you are in Illinois or Wisconsin. Virtual therapy offers the same level of confidentiality, connection, and clinical care as in-person sessions, with the added flexibility of accessing support without needing to travel. All you need is a private space and a stable internet connection. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions or if you'd like to schedule a session.

How long are sessions, and how often will I meet with my therapist?

Individual sessions are typically [45–50 minutes]. Frequency is collaborative and based on your needs and goals — most clients begin with weekly sessions and adjust over time as therapy progresses.

Is therapy confidential?

Yes. What you share in session is confidential and protected by law. There are a few important exceptions: if there's a risk of harm to yourself or others, suspected abuse or neglect of a child, elder, or dependent adult, or a court order requiring disclosure, we may be legally required to share information. We'll review these limits with you in more detail during your consent process.
